Democracy in crisis or authoritary return?
Theoretical notes on the new phase of neoliberalism in Latin America
Keywords:
neoliberalism, authoritarianism, democracyAbstract
At this time of dealing with the economic crisis and change in the political orientation of governments in Latin America, we observe a drastic change in the conduct of neoliberal policies. This article seeks to present a conceptual theoretical debate that composes a new agenda of studies about the phenomenon of neoliberalism in its current stage and its relationship with the deterioration of liberal democracy. Our focus of analysis will focus on examining this new specialized literature on neoliberalism, which indicates a neoliberal restructuring with authoritarian tendencies, which radically reconfigures the State towards a more repressive and less democratic control policy.
