Interpretive keys of coup d’Etat in Brazil

The aim of this paper is to produce analytical keys to understand the coup d’Etat that led to the illegitimate removal of Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff. This objective is part of our attempt to contribute to the debate in Latin American social sciences regarding the characteristics of the of the 21st century coups promoted by right forces that have resulted in the displacement of several presidents elected by the popular vote: Jean Bertrand Aristide in Haiti, Manuel Zelaya in Honduras and Fernando Lugo in Paraguay. The theoretical / methodological perspective adopted for this purpose is the analytical perspective of historical sociology.
